Understood first. Designed second.

“The details are not the details. They make the design.”
— Charles Eames

Hi! I’m Daria, and I create by listening first.

What I believe about design

Restraint is a decision. The strongest thing in a design is usually what you leave out. Three colours instead of eight, one motif instead of five, raw wood instead of a printed pattern.

The client's voice comes first. My taste works for the brand, not over it. If a client already has a look people love, I extend it rather than replace it.

Every choice needs a reason. If I can't explain why a colour, a typeface or a headline is there, it isn't finished. Every project on this site shows those reasons.

Before I open a design file, I want to know who the work is for, what it has to change, and what the client hasn't quite put into words yet. A brief usually describes a picture. The real job is the problem behind it.

Since 2021 I've worked across brand, product and print: a laser-cut greeting card range for our family business, an illustrated alphabet for a resilience consultant, and identities for an accountancy firm and a performing-arts photo studio. In each one, the client's character came first, and my taste worked for it rather than over it.

Outside design, I've spent years leading teams in UK hospitality, where listening closely, managing expectations and solving problems on the spot are the whole job. It's made me a calmer creative worker. I ask better questions, I can explain every choice I make, and I see a project through to the end.

I studied arts, which gave me an eye for composition and proportion, and taught me how to present an idea to the people who have to say yes to it.
