Futurism, an early 20th-century movement, celebrated modernity, technology, and dynamic movement, emphasizing speed and the allure of urban life. It sought to break away from traditional forms and embraced innovation, often depicting motion and the beauty of machinery. In contrast, abstract art emerged around the same time, focusing on shapes, colors, and forms rather than representational accuracy. By distilling subjects to their essence, abstract artists invite viewers to interpret emotions and ideas freely, encouraging a deeper exploration of the relationship between art and the viewer's experience. Together, these movements inspire a design philosophy that reflects transformation and individuality.
